Indoor-duplex-fiber-optic-cables are a type of fiber cable used to transmit data between devices. They differ from simplex cables because they have two strands of fiber rather than one. This means that they are capable of bidirectional transmission.

OM1
Duplex fiber optic cables are used for two-way transmissions within devices; one channel sends data while the other receives it. They’re primarily used for networking and backbone applications.
This LSZH OM1 Duplex Single Mode Fiber Cable is made from genuine Corning glass and has a plenum rated construction. A tight buffer, aramid yarn and PVC outer jacket encase the fiber strands, with all materials meeting EU RoHS and REACH Directive standards. This cable is available in 12 TIA standard colors as well as special order colors, and has sequential footage markings on its jacket for easy tracking.
OM2
Lc to St Fiber Patch Cable, also known as a multimode OM2 indoor-fiber-optic-patch-cords duplex, is a two-stranded optical fiber cable that uses one sender and one receiver. It is designed to transmit data over shorter distances. These cables are commonly used for Gigabit Ethernet.
These cables have a core diameter of 50 microns and are wrapped in an outer cladding of 125 microns. The difference in core and cladding diameter allows more light to pass through the cable, which minimizes attenuation.
UL Listed OFNP, these cables are ideal for use in plenum and riser spaces. They come with standard surface print denoting construction, NEC rating and fiber type.
OM3
When choosing a multimode fiber optic cable, three main factors are important: bandwidth, cable length, and cost. If you have a longer run and very high bandwidth requirements, OM4 is the best option.
OM4 multimode fibers have 50-micron cores and are identified by an aqua jacket. They have a wider range of wavelengths than other multimode fibers and can support 10 Gigabit Ethernet at distances up to 550 meters.
Unlike OM1, OM4 is reverse-compatible with OM3, so it can be used in systems that use OM3. However, the biggest difference between the two is their modal bandwidth. OM4 has a higher modal bandwidth (4700 MHz*km) than OM3, so it can carry more data over a longer distance.
OM4
OM4 fiber is laser-optimized with a 50/125um core and meets the ISO 11801 standard. It’s typically used in data center applications and provides higher speeds than OM3. The improved attenuation and dispersion parameters of OM4 enable longer distances between connections.
These cables are suitable for backbone cabling between telecommunications rooms or within the data center between main networking switches. They’re also often used as patch cords for routing connections between electronic equipment and data centers. OM5
OM5 is the latest development in multimode fiber systems, and it offers performance that meets increasing data center demands without requiring new infrastructure. It supports longer transmission distances than older technologies, and it’s backward compatible with OM3 and OM4 systems.
This duplex fiber cable uses two simplex units held together in a tight buffer design. It’s commonly used for LAN connections and patch cords, and it features Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSZH) or PVC jacketing.
