M16 Large Head PVC Fittings
Polyvinyl chloride is a tough, flexible, corrosion resistant material suitable for a wide range of applications. It is also non-toxic & easy to work with. Our M16 large head PVC is available in all lengths, zinc plated & can be used with a variety of fittings.
*Requires left hand model M16 large head PVC die head.
Hexagon Bolts
Hex bolts have six-sided heads for firm wrench tightening. These fasteners are commonly used for securing infrastructure that requires high-tensile strength in confined spaces because the hexagonal head has more surfaces to grip with socket wrenches. Hex bolts can also create more torque or turning force because they have a wider surface area than square head fasteners. These bolts have either a fully threaded or partially threaded shank for attaching them to thin surfaces.
Hex bolts are available in a wide range of sizes, materials and finishes to suit multiple environments. For example, black oxide hex bolts are suitable for dry or indoor applications, while zinc yellow or armor coated screws are suitable for wet or marine environments. These hex bolts are made from heat-treated carbon and boron alloy steel for strong, long-lasting use. The hex bolts that meet Mil Spec standards have a black finish for durability in demanding military environments. Other hex bolts have black, blue or zinc yellow finishes to resist corrosion in various environments. Hexbolts are also available with a smooth or serrated head for added strength and protection against accidental slippage.
PVC Pipe
Known as PVC pipe, this type of piping is found in the walls and floors of homes and businesses. It is also used to transport water, waste and chemicals. PVC pipes are lightweight, inexpensive and easy to install. They are highly resistant to corrosion and are unlikely to burst under pressure. PVC pipes are also able to resist temperature changes and will not melt when exposed to heat.
PVC is a man-made material that is created by linking together monomer molecules during a process called polymerization. When combined with a plasticizer, it can be made into various products including PVC pipes.
The raw materials that make up PVC are chlorine (obtained by electrolysis of saltwater) and ethylene (obtained from oil). Once the chloride and ethylene are combined, they form vinyl chloride monomer which is the main ingredient in PVC. To make PVC pipe, this monomer is mixed with other chemicals. These include lubricants to allow the plastic to move smoothly through an extruder, a thermal stabilizer to prevent it from breaking down over time and an impact modifier for strength.
In addition, some specialized types of PVC are formulated with modifying polymers that improve the material’s toughness and resistance to crack growth. This results in PVC-HI pipe that is rated to handle natural gas without failing, whereas other modifications provide higher resistance for drinking and waste water applications.
PVC Fittings
PVC is one of the most popular types of piping material for household plumbing and sewage systems. This is because it has excellent ductility, durability and corrosion resistance. It also prevents clogging and is easy to work with. There are a wide variety of PVC pipe fittings that can be used to connect different sections of pipe together. These include elbows, tees and crosses.
Generally, PVC fittings have male pipe threaded ends (MPT or FPT) that screw into female pipe threaded ends on the corresponding pipe segment. This allows for a water-tight seal. Some PVC fittings are designed with a female slip connection that can be used to join nonthreaded pipes.
The sizing of a PVC fitting is indicated by the OD, or outside diameter. For example, a 1″ pipe will fit all fittings that have a nominal size of 1. The OD is larger than the inner diameter, or ID, of the fitting. This is why it’s important waterproof connector manufacturer to make sure the OD of the pipe and the OD of the fitting match up before purchasing parts.
Most PVC pipe fittings are molded, which means they are made by injecting hot plastic into a premade mold. However, there are a few that are extruded, which involves forcing heated or unheated plastic through an orifice to shape it into a particular design.
